Starting off on my new adventure.

Dear Reader,
I'm taking a class this year called WISE which allows for me to go out into the community second semester and choose a project completely of my choice and, well, do it. Something that fascinates me is wheel throwing. The professionals do it with such ease, making it look completely effortless as if the clay knows what they want. Well, I've chosen to give it a try and wheel throw mugs. What I'm hoping to accomplish by the end of my 16 week journey is to have made between 5 to 7 mugs all of different design, technique, and glazing patterns.

A big fear I have in this is that I've chosen some ideas and inspirations that realistically, I won't be able to pull off. I have a great ceramics teacher who can help me in building my wheel throwing skills and am beginning to work with a professional ceramics artist, Julia Dean; hopefully some of her magic skills will rub off on me (I wish). Regardless, I intend to set sail on my project soon and hopefully make way into making some beautiful functional mugs that I can be proud of and use around my home, give away to friends, or maybe even sell.
